Free community autism support training

June 23, 2026

How we respond in routine, urgent or crises can make all the difference for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Join USI Disability Resources and Optimal ACCESS on Wednesday, July 22, for a free, practical training session focused on improving real-world interactions and community safety.

Key takeaways:

  • Understand how autism presents in healthcare, emergency and public safety settings.
  • Identify common communication, sensory and motor differences that impact behavior.
  • Gain practical strategies to promote safety, dignity and positive outcomes.

The training session will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. July 22 in Carter Hall. First responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, mental health providers, social workers, USI employees and community service personnel are all invited to attend.
